Healthcare Professional Development Course INDUSTRY SECTOR: HealthcareThis twelve module Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course will benefit all people working in healthcare environments, those intending to enter the sector, and management and general staff. Modules may be completed individually, or students may enrol for the full course. The twelve modules may be completed over an extended period (maximum 12 months), to suit the workplace schedules of those already working within the healthcare sector. COURSE DESCRIPTOR: This twelve module CPD Course has been developed by Focus Professional Development to introduce, enhance, and refresh the skills of caregivers, and professional staff already working in healthcare. Completion of the modules will support annual CPD requirements. The practical approach taken is based on the course developers having had many years of professional experience working in healthcare and training. As such, the course is also a valuable preparation for those intending to complete further accredited courses, to meet mandatory requirements to gain first time employment in healthcare. This applies especially to overseas based candidates who may have a goal of qualifying to work in the UK, Australia, or Canada. The course goes beyond discussing practical tasks and focuses on the ‘How’ ‘What’ and ‘Why’ aspects of providing respectful, dignified, and safe care. This approach provides additional insight that will enable caregivers and healthcare professionals to gain a deeper holistic understanding and will empower them to deliver quality care more effectively. COURSE OBJECTIVES: 1. Participants will learn new communication skills and will be able to recognize communication barriers and how to avoid them when communicating with clients, colleagues, and others. 2. Participants will gain knowledge and skills which will equip them to contribute to a more productive working environment, and vastly improved working relationships within a healthcare team. 3. After completion of all modules, participants will have gained an enhanced understanding and perspective of their roles. MODULE OUTLINE: The first two (2) modules FPDC001 Communication in the Healthcare Workplace and FPDC002 Barriers to Communication combine to examine the vital importance of communication. and impact of potential barriers to communication on all aspects of healthcare. FPDC003 Understanding your Role, FPDC004 Diversity and FPDC005 Building Relationships focus on how caregivers and their colleagues must conduct and manage themselves within a healthcare work environment. The remaining seven (7) modules provide a reinforcement and enrichment of other vital topic areas – but participants will note underlying references to the continuing benefits of applying improved communication skills to work effectively and safely.
